Junior Choristers' Guidelines
Attendance
- Attendance is mandatory at all rehearsals. Absences affect not only the chorister's music-making, but also that of the entire choir. If a singer misses the presentation of new material
or directions, she will at the very least slow the choir's progress in the next rehearsal while she is catching up. Carpool arrangements and backup ride plans are strongly encouraged. If it is absolutely necessary for your daughter to miss a rehearsal, you, the parent, must notify the Artistic Director in advance, as soon as you know. This better enables her to plan a rehearsal. Please leave a message on her answering machine (834-3694) if she is not available. Illness and car problems are understandable, but the director needs to know before she starts rehearsal. She leaves at 5:30 p.m. for Highland Park — after that time, an absence is unexcused.
- Girls are on probation after two unexcused absences, and will forfeit any assigned solos. After three unexcused absences, a girl will be dismissed from the choir. Two tardy marks in one trimester add up to an unexcused absence. Two unexcused tardy arrivals in one trimester constitute one unexcused absence. Tardiness is excused when advance notice is given, or in the case of unavoidable delays such as car problems or overly long waits at the doctor's office. As for any team, commitment is very important!
- Attendance is required for public performances. An unexcused absence from a performance will place a chorister on immediate probation, as would two unexcused tardy arrivals at performances. Choristers are expected to arrive promptly for pre-concert rehearsals, and to be appropriately attired for the performance at the start of rehearsal.
