Tell them you are from Austin Girls' Choir, and they will furnish the correct styles. Parker is closed Sunday and Monday. Please note: blouses are $18-$25, but prices may change.

Cummerbunds and rosettes. are also from Southeastern Apparel. Cummerbund is $10, rosette is $6. Same shipping fee restrictions; better to order through AGC.

Additional items: black flat dress shoes, flesh-tone pantyhose, slip (skirts are somewhat transparent!). If hair ribbons are desired, you may use red, black or white.

Additional items: black dress shoes (please limit heel to one inch, no spike heels), flesh-tone knee-hi hose, long half-slip (or full slip).

We prefer that the black circle skirt, red rosette and red cummerbund be purchased through Austin Girls' Choir's office to ensure timely arrival of uniform items.

Casual Uniform (all girls)

  • Choir t-shirt — order through choir office (453-0884) — $8.00.
  • Blue jeans. In warm weather, blue denim skirts or shorts are OK.
  • White tennis shoes and socks.
  • Hair ribbons may be red, white or blue.
  • No hats or sunglasses.

Dickens costume

Wear a white long-sleeved blouse without rosette, add white wrist-length gloves (Target for Juniors, Seniors & Duals order through AGC), and Juniors substitute white tights for the usual hose. Juniors wear cummerbund. Victorian-style high-top dress shoes may also be worn. In cold weather, T-neck longjohns can be worn under the blouse. The Choir owns cloaks, skirts, petticoats, hoopskirts and accessories that the girls rent for a very nominal fee for the Christmas concert season. Skirts and hoops are to be returned clean at the end of the season; cloaks are drycleaned annually by AGC. Eating while wearing the costume is not permitted. If a cloak has to be drycleaned mid-season, the parents of the person responsible must pay for this. Hair must be in Victorian style -- tied back or braided. Seniors wear hats; Juniors with short hair may put a bow on top! When we sing for Victorian festivals, even the bows are scrutinized; please use red, black or white, and avoid patterns other than plaids. Victorian girls' earrings were small, understated, and did not dangle; choose accordingly.

Clothes Closet

The Choir keeps a "Clothes Closet" of uniform items available for swap or loan. Those items are stored at the Choir office (in the AGE Building, 38th and Cedar, #290 in the south wing). Parents may visit during office hours to borrow clothing — please call ahead to be sure that the administrator will be there.

At the start of each trimester, we check with each continuing Choir family about donating outgrown items to the clothes closet. We accept items and handle swaps/loans year round, of course! Please note that we do not handle sales, nor purchase clothing items from families. We may keep a reference list of clothes available for sale, but any sale of clothes will be strictly between individuals and not involve Choir or Clothes Closet. Individuals taking clothes on loan will be required to sign an agreement that all loan items will be returned in good condition.
